The State Service for Veterans Affairs has signed memorandums of understanding with Caucasus University, Caucasus International University, European University and New Higher Education Institute-NEWUNI
The Director of the State Service for Veterans Affairs, Major General Koba Kobaladze continues to meet with the heads of higher educational institutions of Georgia.
Today, he hosted the heads of 4 more higher educational institutions – the rector of Caucasus University, Kakhaber Shengelia, the rector of Caucasus International University, Kakhaber Kordzaia, the vice-rector of the European University, Nikoloz Parjanadze, and the rector of the New Higher Education Institute – “NEWUNI”, Tamar Gardapkhadze.
Koba Kobaladze gave a presentation to the guests on the dynamics of the development of the State Service for Veterans’ Affairs as a state institution; on the projects implemented with the support of the state, private sector and international partners to overcome the existing challenges in the social, economic, and healthcare aspects of the beneficiaries of the service and for the greater integration of veterans in society and the purposeful use of their intellectual and physical resources, on future plans and tasks. He emphasized the importance of educating future generations and motivating, relevant the role of youth equipped with knowledge, imbued with a patriotic spirit in building a strong state.
The guests unanimously noted that they fully share the social responsibility towards the honored and meritorious part of society – veterans and welcome the decision of the service to finance 50% of the higher education (bachelor’s degree) of veterans and their children. They expressed their desire to deepen cooperation and agreed to develop joint projects that will encourage successful students and increase their motivation.
At the end of the meeting, memorandums of understanding were signed between the parties.
For information, in the State Service for Veterans’ Affairs, along with healthcare, assistance to disabled veterans, social security and other programs, a program to finance 50% of the higher education (bachelor’s degree) of veterans and their children has been operating since 2023, and since its launch to date, up to 5,000 students-children of veterans and five veterans themselves benefited;
The purpose of today’s meeting and the signing of memorandums of understanding with universities was to improve the process of information exchange between universities and the service for a more effective and flexible implementation of the study financing program and to ease the burden on students to submit relevant documentation.
The memorandums also provide for deepening relations and cooperation in the field of education and science, in order to support the interests of veterans and their families.
The State Service for Veterans Affairs, for this purpose, plans to sign memorandums of understanding with other higher educational institutions.
